The other artists I've come in contact with go through the same mental gymnastics every time they come close to a finished work. Is this really done, or not?
I wonder....as I develop in this artistic endeavor will I become a prolific painter. In the early days when I painted to give gifts to friends or family, I marathon painted. Most of the paintings I did were copies of a picture I'd seen somewhere that I thought they might like. One of my favorite reference photos sources would be those found on a greeting cards. Then instead of receiving only the beautiful card they would receive a painting of the card as well.
But today I use references from photos I have or friends have allowed me to use, and composites using several photos to create the vision I have of an imaginary place or setting. The paintings develop rather than being set in stone from the beginning.
We will see as time goes by if speed will enter into the process, allowing me to offer more to my audience. I never want to substitute quantity for quality.
Yesterday 'Grandma's Hydrangeas' was complete. Today work will begin on finishing up 'Craggy Tree'.
Hope you all have a great day.....if you like this one and the others on my site, please share this with others.
Thanks, and we'll talk real soon....
